Bord Failte plan to market dirty bathing water positively

The appalling bathing water quality at Ireland’s beaches need not necessarily be seen in a negative light, according to plans for a new Bord Failte marketing campaign.

“We believe there is an opportunity here to market the country for tourists seeking a Christian holiday,” a source said.

“We have to make the most of the fact that it is easier to walk on water here than anywhere else in Europe,” he added.

The agency is currently considering two possible slogans:

- Ireland, Jesus would have loved it

or

- You too can walk on water

A third potential slogan with a tie in to the world’s biggest band – U2 can walk on water – was reluctantly shelved after it emerged that Bono was too publicity shy.
