Taoiseach Brian Cowen has added his voice to calls for leopards to change their spots but has cautioned that this may be a long drawn out process.
Welcoming a leading leopard’s statement that leopards who had yet to change their spots might still do so, Mr Cowen said he expected “strong and continuous participation” by leopards in the scheme.
In typically robust language Mr Cowen nonsensed the suggestion that leopards could not change their spots. “That thinking is in the past,” he said. “We are now in the business of thinking and doing the impossible. ”
Mr Cowen said the next budget would show just how possible the impossible has become. “Not only will we get leopards to change their spots,” he said. “We will also get feathers from frogs and blood from stones.”
