Vaguely Irish people everywhere are furious after discovering that the proposed Certificate of Irishness is in fact a National Solidarity Bond.
“They are trying to trick usĀ into buying something worthless by selling us something worthless,” Darby O’Gill, from Chicago said.
The National Solidarity Bonds – also known as wastepaper – are a savings scheme aimed at funding the national debt. Certificates of Irishness are a revenue generating scheme also aimed at funding the national debt.
The marketing campaign for the Solidarity Bonds has also been criticised here.
It shows a woman saying: ‘In 10 years time I’ll be living in a cottage in the west…’ However, The Mire has learned that she continued: ‘without water, electricity, waste collection or sanitary facilities.
