The Government has issued instructions for all health and safety officers working in the public sector to work from home for the foreseeable future.
It is thought that this move will save significant costs as health and safety officials will no longer be able to point out expensive lapses in health and safety standards.
The move follows the recent policy of confining officers to their own departments. “This policy enjoyed some success but overzealous officials still managed to raise health and safety issues concerning their own offices and public areas such as corridors, car parks and toilets. This can not be tolerated in the longer term,” a government source said.
As a precautionary measure officers will not be allowed to use their bathrooms or kitchens during office hours.
