‘Inconsiderate’ Irish thrive on ill health

June 15, 2009

The Irish people are now living longer than ever despite their best efforts. This unwarranted longevity is causing consternation in the Health Promotion department of the Health Service Executive (HSE) as staff there believe it is sending out the wrong message.

Health Promotion staff say they are completely demoralised by the latest mortality statistics which show Irish men living to age 79 and Irish women living to 84.

“It’s just not on,” a source said. “These people are not eating right. They don’t exercise. They ignore all of the good advice we give them. They have no right to live longer.”

“This is really inconsiderate of them,” the disgruntled source added. “And it is having a terrrible impact on staff morale, particularly in these difficult times when we are engaged in an uphill struggle to be useful.”
