An innovation taskforce appointed by Taoiseach Brian Cowen to inform the Government’s strategy for positioning Ireland as an international innovation hub and to assist in making the “knowledge economy” a reality has disbanded 15 minutes into its first meeting.
The taskforce was to look at options to increase innovation and entrepreneurship and to ensure that investment in science, technology and research translates into high-value jobs and sustainable economic growth.
“We quickly realised that there simply isn’t a budget to generate a lot of knowledge in Mireland so we had to disband. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing so we feel we should play to our strengths here and have no knowledge at all. It’s the achievable, safe, option,” a taskforce spokesman said.
