A controversial publication by a group of leading scientists has cast doubt on the very existence of Government.
The book, provocatively named The Government Delusion, dismisses belief in Government as weakminded and describes democracy as a virus.
“If Government exists it would surely do something,” the book says.
“There is no evidence to suggest it exists and to claim otherwise is weakminded,” it continues.
A spokesman for Taoiseach Brian Cowen welcomed the publication. “The Taoiseach hopes everyone accepts this argument going forward,” he said.
