County councils in the west of Ireland are hopeful that the discovery of water on one of Saturn’s moons could alleviate pressures on supply.
A dry June combined with crap water services has led to supply problems in many parts of the west of Ireland.
Since the schools closed and the rains started it has become a common sight to see people gazing at the sky with their mouths wide open trying to catch raindrops.
Now that water has been discovered in space it appears the problem may be resolved.
“Saturn’s water is not our only option. We could potentially fix leaks or improve infrastructure,” a water services spokesman said. “However, the Saturn strategy is the most realistic solution. It is grounded in common sense.”
The spokesman said it was vital the water was not left to other life forms in the solar system. “The aliens can wait their turn. The west has waited long enough,” he said.
